What is One Line Art?

This trend is very minimalistic and all you need is a single pen and white paper. In particular, motifs like plants and faces are the focus of this art.

Did you know that Pablo Picasso was a famous representative of One Line Art?
Pablo Picasso, the Spanish painter, graphic artist and sculptor is considered the founder of one-line art. Together with fellow artist Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso designed black-and-white artwork characterized by simplified, curvy lines and contours. That was in 1950! One of the most famous works is probably the Dove of Peace, which was also created with only one continuous line. It shows impressively that only one line is enough to break everything down to the essentials. The art is simple, clear and aesthetic.
One Line Art how does it work?
Okay! You're as excited as we are and want to get started now? The most important rule first: don't try to get off!
Start with a smaller motif and repeat a few times. Try out the stroke width and, if possible, don't stop. You will notice that after a few repetitions, it will run more smoothly, and in the same way, you can progress to larger motifs step by step. By the way, art also improves your hand-eye coordination. You can also enhance your drawing with a color upgrade.
In the first step, you watercolor the background in abstract shapes or color blobs. Just as you like and then start with your line. This creates a wonderful interplay of bright colors and minimalist lines.
